Illinois Football Parking Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What time do the lots open and close on game day?
A. Parking lots are open to patrons starting at 7:00am and remain open until 10:00pm on game days. This excludes any night games that Illinois might have in which parking lots will close 1 hour after the completion of the game.
Q. Is overnight parking allowed in the lots?
A. Overnight parking is prohibited in all the parking lots. Those with motor homes looking to park overnight may park at a local Wal-Mart.
Q. Which lots allow tailgating? What are the tailgating policies?
A. Tailgating is allowed in all the football parking lots. Personal tailgating tents and awnings must be 10’x10’ or smaller, and must fit within the boundary of one designated parking space. Personal golf carts are prohibited from tailgating areas. No electrical power will be provided. The following items or actions are not allowed in parking lots: open fires, weapons, fireworks, saving parking places, disorderly conduct, advertising banners or displays, picketing or political campaigning, solicitation, tethered blimps, balloons, and other oversized inflatables.
Q. Where can I park on game day if I do not have a parking pass?
A. The lots available for game day purchase are Lot 44, 48, 49 and the lots in Research Park. Parking fees for these lots are $20 per automobile. Automobiles with pull behinds are ONLY allowed in Lot 48 for $40. Recreational vehicle/motor homes may park in Lot 33 for $40.00. Buses may park on Pennsylvania Ave. for $50.00.
Q. Where is ADA parking located this season? Can I use my parking pass to park in the ADA parking spaces?
A. A limited number of ADA parking spaces are provided in the four quadrants of the Assembly Hall. An ADA Shuttle Lot will be available in the Yahoo parking lot of Research Park off of First Street. A shuttle bus service will be provided from this lot to the stadium prior to the game and after the game. The fee for ADA parking is $20 unless you have an I FUND parking pass, in which case it is free. A disabled license plate or handicap placard is required to park in these spaces. ADA parking is based on availability.
Q. Can you explain the golf cart shuttle service and Where they are located?
A. The golf cart shuttle service is available to patrons that need assistance between the parking lots and the stadium. The shuttle service will begin two hours prior to kick-off and will run continuously up to 15 minutes before kick-off. Shuttle service will resume at the end of each game as soon as pedestrian traffic allows. Patrons who would like to utilize this service prior to kick-off should wait at one of the following locations: east entrance of Lot 31 and Lot 33, Florida Ave. entrance of Lot 45, and on the corner of Oak Street and Hazelwood Drive in Research Park. Shuttle service will also be provided to patrons parked in the handicapped parking spaces in the quadrants of the Assembly Hall. The pre-game drop-off and post-game pick-up location at the stadium for the west side will be on Kirby Ave. near Portal 1 and for the east side will be on Kirby Ave. near Portal On game day parking attendants will be able to assist with any questions regarding the shuttle service.
Q. How will information regarding lot changes due to inclement weather be communicated?
A. DIA will do their best to communicate information regarding lot changes, due to inclement weather, as early as possible. This information will be sent out via email fightingillini.com homepage, News Gazette, and WDWS 1400. If by chance a patron does not hear of these changes prior to their arrival on game day we will have signage and staff directing patrons to the appropriate areas.
I FUND PARKING QUESTIONS
Q. What is allowed to park in a “car only” lot?
A. Cars, minivans, personal trucks, and SUVs will be allowed to park in “car only” lots. Pull-behind trailers, motor homes, bread trucks, buses, or any other oversized vehicle will NOT be allowed in these lots.
Q. Can I use my parking pass to park my motor home in Lot 33?
A. Your parking pass will not be accepted in Lot 33. You can pay $40.00 to park a motor home in Lot 33 on game day.
Q. Can I use my Lot 48 pass to park in Research Park?
A. Anyone receiving a Lot 48 pass will be guaranteed a space in Lot 48. However, Lot 48 pass holders will also have the option to use their pass to park in Research Park, based on availability. Pull-behind trailers will only be allowed in Lot 48.
Q. Can I bring a pull behind trailer in Lot 36 this season?
A. Yes, pull behind trailers can be brought into Lot 36 this season. However, if you want to bring a pull behind trailer into Lot 36, you must have a Lot 36 parking pass for your vehicle and an additional Lot 36 parking pass for your pull behind trailer. You must detach your pull behind and park it in a reserved spot.
