Jim Tressler - Director

Since his graduation from the University of Cincinnati, Jim has experienced many facets of the tennis industry. After receiving his B.S. in Management and Marketing, Jim coached women’s college tennis as the Assistant Tennis Coach at Indiana and Florida and then as the Head Tennis Coach at Alabama. Next, Jim accepted a position at Nike where he worked in the Tennis Sports Marketing Department. He began working at the Atkins Tennis Center in 2000. Jim is certified by both the USPTA and PTR.

 

Alex Voss - Program Coordinator

Alex began working at Atkins while completing his undergraduate degree in Business Administration. After earning his degree in May, 2002, he enrolled in the Sport Management masters program and served as Atkins’ Graduate Assistant. After completing his masters in December, 2005, Alex was hired full-time to assist with the organization of Atkins’ on-court programs and the numerous events hosted at Atkins. Alex earned his Level I USPTA certification in April, 2007.

 

Christine Stromberg – Graduate Assistant

Christine is a former member of the University of Illinois’ women’s tennis team and a graduate of Illinois’ Recreation, Sport, and Tourism Department. She joins Atkins’ staff as the Graduate Assistant and will be responsible for overseeing Atknis’ Pr0 Shop in addition to teaching private lessons and group clinics. After completion of her masters degree, Christine hopes to one day work for the US Open.

 

Sheila Armstrong - Administrative Aide

Having joined the Atkins staff in July 2010, Sheila oversees all administrative responsibilities for the Atkins Tennis Center as well as the U of I women’s and men’s tennis teams. Sheila has worked with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) since 1999. During her time with the DIA, she worked in the Office of Development for 11 years.

 

Delilah Lewis - Main Desk and Pro Shop Attendant

Delilah has worked at the Atkins Tennis Center since it opened in 1991. She is an experienced tennis racquet stringer and is also able to string squash and racquetball racquets. In addition, Delilah is knowledgeable in all areas of tennis equipment and accessories and is more than willing to help you choose products that will improve your play.
