Under IRS section 170(l), donors may deduct 80 percent of contributions to higher education institutions for which the donor is given the opportunity to purchase priority tickets and receive priority benefits for seating at an athletic event. Members may decline priority tickets and benefits and deduct 100% of their contribution. Please contact the I FUND office if you choose to decline benefits or have questions. An official receipt for IRS purposes is issued by the University of Illinois Foundation.
A single contribution in support of the I FUND entitles a member to one year's benefits/privileges. In order to remain as an active member in good standing, a member renews this contribution each year on the anniversary date of the initial gift. Memberships can be established, activated, and maintained in good standing through annual gifts of financial support by check, credit card, bank drafts, electronic funds transfer, in-kind services, matching gifts, appreciated stocks, appreciated securities, and agricultural commodities. Questions regarding arrangements for payment should be directed to the I FUND office nearest you.
